About

The PHX is often a seasonal use system that is stored for 6 or more months a year. Storing the equipment properly helps ensure it will be in good working order when it returns to service.

The off season is also a great time to send in any equipment need of service or repair.

What to Prepare and Check

Aircraft

Ensure the aircraft and components are in good working condition. Repair or service any damage.

Ensure the aircraft and components are dry and free of any sources of moisture.

Batteries

When storing batteries, make sure the LEDs display 3-4 green lights, which corresponds to around 50-97 percent charge.

Check the batteries every three months of storage to make sure they retain 3-4 LEDs. If not, charge the battery back up to 3-4 LEDs as needed.

Note

Batteries slowly discharge over time. If a charge falls to zero LEDs, the battery may become permanently damaged and no longer recharge.

For longest lifespan, store battery with ambient temperature between 40F (5 C) and 90F (32 C). Store batteries in a dry location indoors, out of direct sunlight.

Payload

Verify the payload and its components are in good working order.

Clean the lenses using air duster or a lens cleaning wipe.

Manage the data stored on the SD card or internal storage. Transfer the data to a secure location and remove from the SD card/internal storage so it is ready for future use.

Store the payload in its case or in the fuselage of the aircraft.

CommsBox

Ensure the CommsBox and it’s components are in good working order.

Verify the battery is stored per manufacturers instruction. Most batteries slowly discharge overtime. Check the battery 3 months of storage and ensure it is not fully depleted.

Case

Clean the case and remove any dirt, debris, and moisture.

ensure all of the expected aircraft components and accessories are present, stored properly, and ready for future use.

Environment

The system should be stored in a dry location within the storage temperature limits.
