Power On & Boot

After the aircraft and camera are powered via the aircraft battery, allow the camera to boot. This may take a minute or two.

Camera Status

The camera indicator icon in the top bar of Fly PHX will show when the camera is ready for flight.

Camera Indicator Icon

The camera is ready for flight.

Red Icon

The camera is not ready for flight.

Orange Icon

The camera storage is more than 50% full.

Flashing Red Icon

GPS Type

The type of GPS accuracy being applied to the imagery EXIF data.

Standard GPS

Approximately 3 to 5 meter accuracy. The GPS information is still provided by the GPS attached to the camera.

This is different than the aircraft GPS.

The aircraft GPS information is only used as a fall back if the RTK GPS hardware fails.

Float Fix

Approximately 1 meter GPS accuracy.

Float fix is colored orange to show that while it is a type of RTK accuracy it is not the highest accuracy that can be achieved by the system.

RTK Fix

Approximately 3 centimeter GPS accuracy. This is the fix type that is expected for data that requires full RTK accuracy.

Expanded Window

Press on the camera indicator icon and the expanded window view will open. This will provide more information about the camera.

Pre-Flight Checklist

The preflight checklist camera item will automatically pass when the camera is ready.

The camera will signal that it is ready once it has a standard GPS fix. Ensure that the camera has an RTK fix before launching the aircraft.

The Pre-flight checklist item will not automatically pass when:

  • The camera is not ready.

  • The storage is more than 50% full.

An unready camera pre-flight check can be manually bypassed by the pilot at their digression.

Apply one of the presets listed above to apply the correct settings for the intended data product output.

These presets can be applied and the altitude/overlap can be changed to suit the pilots needs.

After the preset is applied, press next to move onto the landing pattern mission item. Then select the survey mission item again, and the expanded view (shown) will be displayed. This allows the pilot to set the desired altitude and overlap values.

Custom settings can be saved as a new preset using the preset tab in the survey mission item.

Camera Webpage

The D4K payload hosts a local webpage that can be accessed by the user when needed.

The easiest way to access the webpage is to use the button built into Fly PHX located at:
Application Settings>Help>System Links.

This will open the default web browser and direct it to the camera webpage.

If using the feature on iOS, navigating out of the Fly PHX application will start the lost comms timer. After 60 seconds the aircraft will activate the lost comms fail safe and return to land.

To manually access the webpage enter the following address into the address bar of a web browser while connected to the PHX or camera.

192.168.143.141

The webpage for the D4K RTK payload displays both the RTK GPS information as well as the aircraft GPS information.
