General
The Pitot tube for the PHX is designed to be highly resilient and easy to maintain. The Pitot tube consists of 2 main components. The tip and the tube. The tip is easily removeable and replaceable without the use of any tools or disassembly. The tube contains the hosing that is connected to the airspeed sensor.
Tips
The tip should replaced anytime that it ingests dirt, moisture, or any other such debris.
The tip can be removed by unscrewing it (counter clockwise) from the tube.
A new tip is connected by screwing it into (clockwise) into the tube.
The screw mechanism is designed to be a quick swap and generally requires less than 1 full revolution.
Tube
The tube should be replaced anytime that dirt, moisture or any other such debris is ingested into the hosing past the tip.
This maybe difficult to identify due to the sleeve on the tube. This can identified by:
Visual inspection looking into the tube when the tip is removed.
Failed airspeed calibration (fails pressurization test)
If the pilot suspects the obstructing material has made its way past the tip and into the hosing.
The tube should also be replaced anytime the hosing is damaged, or the entire assembly fails to hold pressure.
This can be identified by:
Visual inspection of the hosing.
Failed airspeed calibration (fails pressurization test).
Pressurizing the tube, seeing airspeed increase, then slowly decreasing.
When replacing the tube assembly ensure that the inline hosing connector remains attached to the short piece of hosing connected to the airspeed sensor. Removing the inline connector from the short piece of hosing may compromise the seal between the connector and hosing.
Sensor Assembly
The airspeed sensor assembly located in the right wing pocket is designed such that it should not require regular maintenance.
If moisture, dirt or other debris makes its way past the inline hosing connector, the assembly may need to be replaced. This is an uncommon occurrence. Contact support@sentera.com if this occurs.
