About
Changing the active waypoint will command the drone to stop flying towards the current waypoint and immediately fly towards the selected waypoint.
How to Use
Select Waypoint
Select the waypoint you wish to navigate towards by clicking on it at anytime.
Confirmation Slider
A confirmation slider will appear with the number of the new waypoint.
Use the slider to set the new active waypoint.
What the Aircraft Will Do
Changing the active waypoint command has slightly different behavior depending on what flight mode the aircraft is in.
Mission Flight Mode
If the aircraft is currently flying the planned survey it will immediate fly to the new waypoint and continue the flight plan from there.
Hold Flight Mode
If the aircraft is currently in a loiter (Pause or Go-To) the aircraft will continue to loiter until the continue mission command is used.
When to Use
The change active waypoint command is useful for many reasons and should be used whenever the pilot feels they should.
The most common use is to repeat an incomplete transect. This helps ensure that not images are missed if the survey is interrupted. See the following example:
Example
The aircraft was performing a survey and needed to use a Go-To waypoint to avoid local air traffic. The aircraft had was mid way through a transect when it diverted from the flight plan.
If the continue mission command was used to resume the survey, the aircraft would flight directly towards waypoint 37 and miss the photos that would have been captured in the highlighted area.
Change the Active Waypoint First
To avoid missing the photos in the region described above the pilot should change the active waypoint to a waypoint at or before the beginning of the incomplete transect.
Use the confirmation slider to set the active waypoint.
Use Continue Mission
The aircraft will continue to loiter in the Go-To waypoint until the continue mission command is used.
If the active waypoint is changed while in mission flight mode, the aircraft will immediately navigate towards the new active waypoint.
All Images Captured
The aircraft will now fly the complete transect and capture the expected imagery.
