How To Use
This section will describe how to use the Sentera RTK base station with the D4K RTK payload.
Please refer to the RTK Base Station User Guide for more detailed information on base station operation.
Setup Base Station
Set the base station up in a location with a clear view of the sky.
Do not place under or directly next to:
Trees
Buildings
Large metal objects
Tailgates
Connect To CommsBox
Connect the Ethernet cable from the base station to the CommsBox.
Power On
Power the base station and CommsBox on using the provided USB cables and batteries.
Survey Location
There are 2 ways to survey the base station location:
Self-Survey
This is the default mode of operation for the base station. The base station will acquire a GPS fix and perform an approximately 120 second sampling period. After the sampling period the base station will have self surveyed its reference point and be ready to transmit corrections data.
The self survey reference point is accurate to approximately 1.5m. This may not align exactly with truth. For the highest accuracy to ground truth use the known location method below.
Known Location
If the location being flown has a known surveyed point, the latitude, longitude, and altitude information can be entered into the base station via the webpage and used as the reference point.
This is useful, as a known survey point gives the highest accuracy in relation to ground truth.
Webpage:
192.168.143.31
or use the button built into Fly PHX:
Application Settings>Help>System Links>RTK Base Station
Assemble Aircraft & Payload
Assemble the aircraft and payload as normal.
Power on the aircraft.
Connect to Fly PHX
Connect your laptop or iPad to the CommsBox via Wi-Fi and launch Fly PHX.
Verify RTK Fix
Use the camera indicator icon at the top of the Fly screen to verify the payload has an RTK fix.
The base station must be powered on and connected to the CommsBox via ethernet.
The base station’s webpage can be visited at 192.168.143.31, to switch between survey-in and known position.
Once the base station has surveyed-in or position has been entered, it will start sending corrections data through the CommsBox.
