Emergency Stop


When to Use

The Emergency stop feature should be used when a aircraft requires immediate flight termination. Cases such as:

Mechanical Failure

In some cases an aircraft may have a mechanical failure that impedes the aircraft's ability to properly navigate. This often looks like the aircraft continuously flying in a circle that is blown down wind.

Unavoidable Air Traffic 

If all other air traffic avoidance methods have been exhausted or are not feasible. 

Ground Emergency

If an emergency occurs that disrupts ground operations and the drone can no longer be safely monitored. Using the RTL feature is preferred if the landing can be performed safely. 

Other

Using the emergency stop is ultimately a desicion that needs to be made by the pilot during critical moments. The safety of the pilot and those around them should be a priority when in an emergency situation.


How to Use

Click on the "Armed" text at the top of the Fly Screen and a drop down box will appear. Select "Disarm". The Emergency Stop slider will appear at the bottom of the screen. Use the slider to confirm the emergency stop action. 


What will the aircraft do?

When activated the Emergency Stop feature will shutdown the aircraft motor and the aircraft will begin to glide to the ground. 


What should the pilot do?

When the emergency stop is activated the user should have visual contact with the aircraft in the sky and maintain visual with the aircraft as it descends. This gives the user the best chance at finding the aircraft once it has reached the ground.Â
