Offline Maps Workaround
The terrain download for Fly PHX is currently not functioning as expected. We are working on fixing the deprecated assets that allowed it to function.
In the mean time here are instruction on how to obtain terrain tiles.
Install QGroundControl
Install the current version of QGroundControl for you desired device. Windows is the recommended host platform.
Open QGroundControl
Navigate To Offline Maps Download
Click on the Q button in the upper left hand corner.
Select Application Settings from the pop-up window.
Select Offline Maps from the menu on the left hand side of the screen.
The offline maps menu will appear.
Download Maps & Terrain Data
Click on “Add New Set”
Navigate to the area in which you want offline maps & terrain data for.
Name the tile set.
Select the map provider (bing or google recommended).
Ensure “Fetch elevation data” is checked.
Click Download to download the tile set.
Confirm the download has completed when both of the green circles are illuminated.

Export Maps & Terrain Data
Select the Export button at the bottom of the screen.
Select the tile set(s) you wish to export.
Press the export button.
Select where you would like to store the exported tile set. This maybe a folder you create or similar. Knowing the location of this folder/files are important.
Name the tile set.
Press Save.
The export complete pop up will appear.
Transfer/Import Map & Terrain Data
Locate the location where the tile set was saved.
For iPad
Transfer the tile set to a removeable storage device that can also be connected to your iPad.
An SD card is recommended.
Connect the storage device to your iPad
Open the Files app on your iPad
Select your storage device
Long press on the tile set file to open the menu.
Select the Move option. A new pop-up window will appear.
Select “On My iPad”
Select the Fly PHX folder.
Select the Missions folder.
Press the Copy button in the upper right hand corner.
Open Fly PHX on the iPad and navigate to the Offline Maps menu.
Select Import.
In the pop-up menu select “append to existing set”.
selecting “replace existing set” will delete all of the maps currently on the iPad.
Then press Import.
In the pop-up menu select the tile set you wish to import.
The tile set(s) should appear in the list. Verify that the sets appear and contain tiles.
