Abort
About
The abort command is used to prevent an aircraft from landing while on final approach.
The landing abort should be used anytime the pilot feels that the aircraft or people are at risk during the landing approach.
How to Use
Activation
Any time the aircraft performs a landing the abort command will become available.
The confirmation slider will appear on the screen when the aircraft enters the final approach portion of the landing pattern.
Â
Confirmation Slider
Use the confirmation slider to send the command to the aircraft.
Â
Â
Abort Maneuver
The aircraft will perform a full throttle, full pitch up maneuver (much like take off, but more aggressive) to get the aircraft clear of the landing approach and area.
Â
Abort Loiter
After the landing has been successfully aborted the aircraft will loiter over the landing point until a new command is sent to the aircraft.
Â
Adjust & Command
Adjust
If the landing pattern needs to be adjusted navigate to the Plan tab, make any necessary adjustments and upload the adjusted flight plan.
Â
Command
Use the Return button in the left hand menu of the Fly screen to begin the landing pattern again.
Â
Tip
The confirmation sliders can work like a dead man switch. This means that the slider can be slid all the way over while being held and the command won’t be sent until the slider is released.
During landing abort it can be useful to pull the slider over and hold it in places until the aircraft lands and comes to a complete stop/disarms.
This allows for a faster reaction time if an abort is necessary, and allows the pilot to keep their eyes on the aircraft all the way through the landing.
